The company was incorporated in 1995 as a Joint Venture between Southwest Maritime Corporation of Manila and Navix Marine of Singapore. The name SWAN bears the first letters of the mother companies, SouthWest And Navix.
The vision for organizing the company was to manage the owned pressurized gas carriers of Southwest and Navix which were on time charter to oil companies.
The company officially started operations on June 1, 1995 and the first vessel in our management was a Japanese owned and on time charter to an oil major.
In 1997, the company was one of the first Philippines based companies to have obtained an ISM Certification from ABS Pacific in compliance with the IMO Regulations. Our relationship with ABS Pacific still continues.
In June 2000, Mitsui OSK Line, Tokyo now MOL bought Navix Line and the partnership changed from Navix to MOL. At the time of the turn over, the company was managing 6 partners owned and 8 3rd party owned vessels.
In March 2004, with mutual understanding and agreement, Southwest Maritime acquired the interest of MOL in Swan.
